The Mission Continues

How great it is to celebrate Easter for longer then a single Sunday!

Within the season of Easter we see the story continues. Almost like an epilogue that is an entire novel in itself with twists and turns. The readings this year, both Sunday and weekday walk through the Acts of the Apostles, the work of the forming church as more people learnt about Jesus. It is 1 Peter today that I am just all excited about.

1 Peter 2.1-10 ignites the calls to Ancient Israel for Christians (likely Gentiles) who are grafted in as chosen people. There is a child like excitement and provision throughout this work but the living stone is so important. We see that as the New Testament unfolds that Jesus is still rejected even as he is glorified by God; he is still currently the rejected stone but now the cornerstone of our faith and we hope to share the good message of Christ. We know Christ will return and we will celebrate this but until then we work as the royal priesthood.

It is such a clear and clean reading, it gives hope and excitement to the Christian, it is honey and milk, sweet and filling. We know life will throw curve balls at us every day but we are being built into the spiritual house, offering our lives as a living sacrifice, hoping to life as pleasing to God.

As for me, I have been reflecting on what I want to leave behind me. There is a million wants of a legacy that would be good as a minister in God's church. In the end though, my life is so small. My greatest hope in ministry is for a few people to have the fog cleared ever so slightly, that they can see more clearly the glory of Christ. Hopefully I can be excited when doing it!
